There are a lot of things you can learn about assistive and adaptive technology and the many ways it can help individuals with disabilities broaden their opportunities in life, to be more creative in the many things they can do, communicate with others as well as become more independent in the number of things one can accomplish.
It is always important to know your students as a teacher and learn more about the areas they are weak in and where there strengths are. Students with disabilities are one in particular teachers must know and understand the type of difficulties they encounter when trying to learn things. It is crucial to know exactly what areas does the child need help in to make their learning easier on them and successful. There are a number of assistive technologies that can help a student learn at their own pace and easier to understand. As a future special education teacher, I will always put my students needs first when it comes to learning. Nothing is more important then teaching the students a number of fundamental knowledge that will help them later in life and what better way to help them learn then the use of assistive technology. In my lesson plan for each day I will always keep in mind what my student's strengths and weaknesses are and if I go fourth with my lesson plan will all my students get something out of it. Being able to help make it possible for the students with disabilities have the opportunity to learn new things everyday, being able to communicate with their peers, and built more confidence when thinking about their future and what they want to become is something a teacher will be most proud of. Because helping a child with a disabilities learn and do things they once thought they couldn't do has finally been accomplished by the teacher is simply priceless!
This video broaden my mind more into searching for the many assistive technologies that are made all over the world to help the students with disabilities move forward in life and become someone important and successful. Still today, many assistive technologies are being thought of and created to accommodate the students with disabilities. When my time comes to finally become a special education teacher I will be one to go out of my way to make sure each of my students have the opportunity to experience learning and interacting just like a regular student without a disability can do.
Overall, this video helped me to understand and know more about the many devices out there and that everyday I can learn something new about assistive technologies and how effective and beneficial they are.
